OPULENT 1920's ITALIAN FIGURAL ANIMALS MOSAIC TABLECLOTH WITH 11 NAPKINS
This skillfully made cherished piece is a wonderful example of Victorian needlework. Circa early 1900's ... a gorgeous Italian fine linen mosaic work tablecloth.... MEASURING apprx... 118" x 68". This tabelcloth is made of the finest linen.... as all of the very best of cloths were during that time. Smooth and yet strong linen... were reserved for the best of cloths. Cloths like these were usually specially made for the customer who had the ability to purchase these fine items. The condition is very good with no broken brides in the mosaic work, no stains or weakness anywhere, and recently washed and pressed. I believe this was once a church rectory cloth because of the removal of a embroidered christian cross as seen in photo. This can be repaired by either putting the embroidery back or inserting two filet inserts on either end of the cloth to cover. The stitches are skillfully worked into the linen. The mosaic work is tight with very well formed designs. There are 11 matching napkins measuring 20" square and in excellent condition. This cloth will enhance any table setting and would be a lovely dressing for your holiday table, or would make a one of a kind holiday gift. it is clean, pristine and ready to use. I have listed other estate tablecloths in my ebay store.
