ORIG. 1959 MATTEL #1 BARBIE DOLL W/BOX.....A BEAUTY!!

We are very pleased to offer for auction this week this wonderful #1 MATTEL Barbie doll that dates back to 1959 and we acquired from the original owner. This doll is a real beauty! Her face is terrific with all original makeup. She has full coral/red lips, matching painted nostrils, black side glancing eyes with white irises, smokey gray eye shadow and arched brown brows that are stenciled not hand painted. She has full shiny blond hair that we retied into the original set. Her curly bangs are full. She has single earring holes and is wearing her original gold hoop earrings.. .there is no trace of green in the area. Her body is excellent....all fingers and toes are accounted for....finger nail polish is 97% intact while toe nail polish is 75% intact. Her overall body coloring is very good. She is more flesh colored where she had her bathing suit on (for all these years)...but the rest of the body is basically the same pale coloring. She has the holes in the bottoms of her feet...but she is missing the tube in her left foot...other tube is intact (see pics). She comes wearing her original black and white bathing suit, she has her number one black shoes and also comes with the first booklet and sunglasses and her original TM box. Box is in very good condition with clean, vibrant, colorful graphics....one corner has some tape...but it was done very neatly and has held up well over the years. Box is marked with the hair color “Blond” and the stock number 850. She no longer has her stand....the original owner had gotten rid of this many, many years ago thinking it was dangerous with those prongs. We did add replacement liner inside the box as there was none inside. All else is original to the doll....she still has that wonderful crayon smell...and is just an exceptional example of the first year Barbie was being made. She comes to you from a SMOKE FREE home and should be a very welcome addition to any collection! ENJOY! .
