I've had clients find it for less than $100.

TITLE: Bad Bird No. 9

This is another in the Bad Bird series. I use my own
Raven photos, most of which were taken in Alaska
and British Columbia when I lived there a few years
ago. These guys are from my favorite bunch of pictures.
A real tough guy who inspired this whole series.

True Story:
 
We were living up in AK and one day we were all down
about something because you're always depressed in
Fairbanks unless it's mid June (the whole 24 hours of 
daylight thing and all) and it wasn't so we were
sitting in the Fred Meyer parking lot eating cheez-its or
something and right in front of us was this pick up (it is
noteworthy that we saw this same butt head earlier in
the day and he tried to run us and everyone else off
the road but...)


So anyway, he's got the bed of his truck filled with bags
of garbage and we watch as no lie about 40 enormous
ravens slowly descend on this stupid miniature excuse
for a pick up truck. Seriously, if you've never seen North
country ravens they are huge, they nearly come up to your
knees.

They absolutely tore apart all those garbage bags and of
course, crapped all over his truck. It was like witnessing
Karma unfolding right in front of us - a truly rare thing.
And in Fairbanks, because of the sub-zero temps 8 months
of the year, he was at least 4 months away from being able to
wash that truck, which of course made it even funnier.

We hadn't laughed that hard since the previous June and
luckily I had my camera with me so I shot about a hundred
pictures of these ravens and those shots are always the
ones that I use for reference in these paintings.

Which is also why they always look a little beat up, the
ravens, but that's how ravens are...a little beat up.

Painted Edges:

I allow an extra 2" minimum of painted image (beyond
the listed dimensions of the painting) on all sides of
the canvas so when it is stretched the painted image
will wrap around the sides of the stretcher bars.

This way the edges will be finished and the painting
will be ready to hang without a frame as soon as
it is stretched.
