This
is an alla prima portrait of Debbie, who posed for our open studio
group in October of this past year. It is a very beautiful painting in
person- the computer screen can only show a fraction of how beautiful
it really is.. Debbie is Pilipino and she wore a gorgeous red dress,
lovely makeup and pearls when she posed. This lady was putting on the
Ritz. She is absolutely beautiful and I have used big strokes of juicy
paint to capture her intense expression.
I
attend the open studio once or twice a month so I
produce about 20 of these portraits per year. They
sell very well because they're fresh and immediate
representations of "real" individuals, not
air-brushed models. Debbie was focused and very
conscious of trying to maintain good posture. Her
glossy black hair is actually long enough to sit on
and I had such fun painting it- I think it shows. The
pearls were a "gottcha" too: instead of
painting each individual pearl and drawing attention
away form her beautiful face, I quickly
"suggested" the necklace, yet they read as
what they are.
I
like to think I communicate a little bit of the
person's personality when I paint one of these
studies. The brushwork is fast and loose- I
attack a painting like this quickly and paint by
instinct, in the same manner that I paint my plein air
pieces. Your satisfaction is
guaranteed. If you're not completely thrilled with the
workmanship and quality I will be happy to buy it
back.

Thanks
for viewing my work. I appreciate your notes. :) Keep
them coming. Many of you are kind enough to send me a
note when you come across a piece you like, even if
you can't afford to bid right then. I love your notes
and I thank you for them. I try to answer each one
within 24 hours. Keep in mind that most of my works
are available as limited edition prints in my store if
you missed the opportunity to bid on an original.

When
you purchase or win the auction for this painting you
will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity,
signed by the artist. Original
art is a great investment but don't buy my work for
that reason- buy it because you love it and you want
your house to look classy. My house is so full of
paintings it looks like a museum and while I'm not
saying the look is for everyone it does work for me.
:)
This
is a quality oil painting painted with traditional
methods. It is an original oil painting by Northwest
Ohio artist, Nora Sallows, and is sure to increase in
value as her paintings become more difficult to
acquire. Check out Nora's eBay
Page for a link to her web page and read her blog
to learn more about the artist and her work. learn

To
would be imitators: This painting is my original idea,
composition and design and it is copyrighted. It is
against eBay policy to pirate artist's work and I will
report violators. There has been a recent increase in
foreign copy painters stealing images and re-painting
them (poorly) to sell as their own. Don't be fooled -
ask for a Certificate of Authenticity- take note of
whether the auction is written in legible English.
Poor grammar is one of the first clues that you may be
dealing with copyists. Of course another obvious clue
is if they advertise "Rembrandt" and
"Vermeer" paintings. Folks, these artists
are dead, they have been for centuries and you would
be buying a poor quality reproduction with exactly NO
intrinsic value. The work is not original to the
artist creating it and therefore not a good
investment.
I
use archival oils and quality canvas and panels- NOT
cardboard painting panels. Your painting is designed
to last a lifetime (or longer). This
is a GENUINE original oil painting, not a copy of
another work or a poor reproduction of a master's
painting. Every stroke is mine. Original art is a
great investment that is never worth less than what
you paid for it.
Monitors display colors differently. An oil painting
is hard to photograph due to the reflective properties
of the paint. I can assure you the actual painting
looks
better than the image on screen, although I have done
my best to represent color as accurately as possible.
Purchase
with confidence- I have 100% feedback and my paintings
are rising in value.
Please
keep in mind that if you use BUY IT NOW to purchase
this painting there could be a delay of up to seven
days before the painting is ready to ship, depending
on how soon it is purchased following the listing.
This is due to the inherent drying properties of oil
paint. I will not mail a wet painting!
