GENUINE ORIGINAL CASTROL WAKEFIELD BOWTIE ENAMEL SIGN

Here we have a genuine and original Castrol Wakefield Motor Oil Sign.This sign is porcelain enamelled or also known as vitreous enamelled. The colours are actually powdered glass fused onto steel sheet in furnaces at around 800-900 degrees celcius. That's Hot!!

Unlike todays counterpart, screen printed ink or vinyl cut lettering, porcelain enamel signs have a beauty all of their own, no longer seen these days.

This sign measures 305mm x 760mm or 1 foot x 2.5 foot.This sign's in pretty good condition apart from general rusting around the edges and corners. The 'A' in the word Castrol seems to have suffered a bit of damage somewhere during it's life, also in the middle of the sign , top and bottom where the holes are. Other than that, a pretty collectable sign.
