Estera Nanassy was born in Bucharest, Romania, the oldest of 5 siblings. Her artistic training beginning at the age of 16 with private voice lessons with a famous voice teacher.  At the same time she began studying fine arts and painting at the Popular Consevetaory of Arts and Music in Bucharest. She successfully graduated and obtained her Baccalaureat (ie Bachelor's Degree) in 1968.

From 1958 to 1959 and from 1963 to 1970 Estera was a fulltime professional chorister in the Consatnsza Opera House in Romania, and in the Trade Union Central House in Bucharest.  From 1972 to 1981 she was a professional chorister in the Romanina Opera House in Bucharest.  This gave her an appreciation of the colors of the stage, and the beauty of the Black Sea Coast, which later influenced her landscape subjects. 

From 1960 to 1963 she worked at a floral desgin company and was insipred by the richness of colors in flowers.  This floral design work became the foundation for her current floral paintings.

In March 1981 Estera came to Portland, Oregon with her husband and son.  Both Estera and her husband rebuilt their lives her based on their artistic passsts.  She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Australia and China. Her numerous trips in her new homestate of Oregon, from the High desert to the Pacific shores, helped strenghten her love of nature as transalated in her artwork.

Currently, she is a member of:

 the Beaverton Arts Commission

the Oregon Society of Artists and

the Village Gallery of Art.

She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the Beaverton and Portland Galleries of Arts.  And recently in Washington State Edmond Gallery of Art.  Currently displaying her art in the East Coast, Ft Lauderdale's The Art Expressions Gallery.

Estera Nanassy is inspired by the Great Masters including Vincent Van Gogh and Child Hassam.  

      "I try to listen to and from the Masters, but at the same time, remain spontaneous and faithful to my own voice."
