Nice ORIS military windup watch from the 1950's- the watch is not working, as it needs a thorough revision and clean. The glass has fogged up, maybe due to escaping gases from the radium dial. In those days, they used to use live radium- nowadays, the Industry uses Tritium, which is a non-radio active luminous compound. (The radium in the dial is long non-radio active...) The fabulous case is chrome plated rather heavily, and the caseback is unlike I have ever seen! (Believe me, I have seen a few million time pieces in my lifetime...) The dial and the hands are so unique, the style is heavy duty Military, could be Swiss military officers watch.?? This movement has the numbers- cal.292 EW. The movement is also tarnished, and will need some acid washes, to help retain it's original colour. All the parts look good though, and the balance staff is also good. Measures- 30,55 mm in diameter, 41,05 mm lug to lug, and 11,80 mm thick. Cheers! |
