OUTSTANDING ANTIQUE YOMUD TURKOMAN SILK KORAN COVER BAG

VERY RARE ANTIQUE YOMUD TURKOMAN SILK KORAN BOKCHE POUCH, Central Asia, Turkmenistan, 2nd half of the 19th century, and in very good condition for the collector. The exact size is: 1'-5' x 1'-5" (43 x43 cm). Homespun silk in teal blue-green and berry red was used for the front and back. The bag is lined with block-printed trade cloth in a checkerboard design. The front of the bag has ancient totemic designs executed is natural dyed silk. The opening edges are secured with a braided silk piping. The corners show abrasions consummate with age use (see close up photos). A very rare Turkmen textile relic for the specialist collector. Stunningly beautiful in the hand.
