This is a highly polished ammonite fossil with fantastic bright Rainbow colors on the shell!   Red, yellow, orange and green!   This will change color and be more red or more green depending on the light and viewing angle!
The colors and polish on this are absolutely gorgeous...the photos say it all! Jewelry quality! Just amazing to hold in your hand and see the fire rotate around the outside of the shell. It is like holding a blazing gemstone opal only brighter! It would be a great addition to a collection.

Desmoceras latidorsatum, 100 million years old (Late Cretaceous Period)  Ammonites are extinct mollusks related to the modern squid, octopus and Chambered Nautilus. Under certain conditions related to fossilization, the nacreous shell becomes highly iridescent; the resulting gemlike material is called "ammolite."
