This auction is for a gorgeous 8 1/2" oyster plate/dish stamped THEODORE HAVILAND LIMOGES FRANCE. It has five oyster wells trimmed in gold along the center edges, creating a gold star in the center. It has a pale pink, trailing rose floral pattern with both mint green and grayish blue-green leaves, and a subtle, yellow-hued background behind the flower sprays (I could not find this pattern anywhere to identify it, sorry). The plate is trimmed with matching pale mint/sea foam green along the outer rim.
It is in excellent condition; no paint loss or fading, no scratches. There are only two flaws I can find. The first is a flaw that occurred during its creation, which is in a photo above. In one of the "V"s where two oyster wells come together there is a dusting of what I thought was supposed to be gold paint. But after closer inspection (and since it is not present in the other "V"s) it is gold particles of something (?) sealed under the glaze. It does not come off with cleaning. There is also a flea bite SO TINY in the gold trim I thought it was just a faded bit of paint (see photo). It isn't deep and may be just the glaze that has flaked off.
This is a beautiful plate at a wonderful price!
I will be listing a lot of estate items as the holidays approach, so please check back!
