For over a decade, Spencer Register has devoted himself to reviving the ocarina, an ancient wind instrument that had been all but forgotten in the West.  Designing and crafting the very highest quality ocarinas in his North Carolina studio, the craftsman quickly earned a reputation for his attention to detail.  Crystal clear tone, precise tuning and a pleasing aesthetic became hallmarks of Spencer's handcrafted ocarinas, which are now some of the most sought-after instruments on the market.  Released in 2009, Ocarina Hymns is Spencer's recording debut.  The CD features ocarina renditions of traditional sacred music creatively arranged for the distinct, haunting voice of the ocarina amid an elaborate accompaniment of piano, keyboard, strings, guitar and percussion.
