Odachi / Nodachi Japanese Foot Soldier Long Sword black As foot soldiers became important in battle, a very long sword was created for their use. This blade was said to be able to cut a man and horse in half. The Great sword (Odachi), or Field sword (Nodachi), were oversized swords made in the more common, Katana form. In all respects they are the same, except in their greater length. Once this sword became illegal, they were either shortened to the normal, Katana length, or used as ceremonial swords. They were used as an offering to the shrine or gods; dedicated towards the winning of a war, or as legendary swords of the gods.
Our version of this rare and magnificent sword is a full 69" tall with a blade 44" long. The hilt and upper section of the scabbard are wrapped in leather-look material, and both hilt and scabbard are decorated with black-finished chain. The young lady in the picture with the sword is 5 feet 7 inches tall.
The blade is quite sharp and not recommended for combat use or sword play. As with any weapon, the suitability or unsuitability for any use is the responsibility of the user. No use whatsoever is endorsed.
This is new, no problems.
