Filled with photographs, these were consider the authoritaritive volumes on Oklahoma's early history from before it became a state in 1908 until the roaring 20s.

Condition

These volumes rate a Good Condition rating, no more but no less because no abuse appears.

The pages are all fairly tight and intact in the spines. The cover boards show surface rubbing and color rubbing all over (the cloth is still quite nice in most places however). Volume I's spine is not readable but most of the gold leaf lettering on Volume II - IV's spines are clear.

The interior pages show only faint age tanning.

Inside Volume II's front cover is some writing in pen from someone who used these volumes for research at one time with pages referenced neatly in a table of notes.

The very early pages of Volume II show signs of a liquid or moisture of some kind that somehow edged 3 of the 4 page edges for much of the volume, but amazingly the pages show no damage from this other than light discoloration and no mildew smell is present in the volumes.

Having said all that in the previous paragraph about moisture, I am now second-guessing myself. This could be some weird form of age tanning to the pages, occruing from the edges inward because volume III also shows this. You can see a little into the spine netting of Volume III but the cover board is in no danger of detaching any time soon.

Volume VI is the best of the four volumes rating Good++ but still showing surface cover board rubs.

No jacket exists and we do not know if any were ever issued originally.
