Another awesome antique sports collectible from HAMMER SPORTS RELICS!

It up for bids is a 1930's Goldsmith leather football helmet! Checkout the beautiful 100% original dark brown patina on this beast! In the photos it looks a lttle more reddish than it is in person. The leather is still in pretty decent shape considering it's age and gridiron experiance, but I will have to say that this helmet has seen better days. When we acquired it there was some old paint in many areas, lots of poor repairs done to the leather, missing stitches, missing leather padding around the forehead edging, and a little bit of damage to the leather interior. We were able to remove the paint and condition the leather but where the stitching was missing the previous owner glued the leather down. We were afraid to try and remove the glue and do a proper repair because it would tear and ruin the leather. So, we left it glued. Even with all the issues, the helmet still looks great when displayed and is holding together fine. The Goldsmith makers logo is marked on the back along with the model # FR. It looks as though someone lightly scratched into the back the # 36 and D K. It also looks like there is a #6 marked on the back but this cannot be the correct size. This is a pretty large helmet. We would guess a  7 1/2 at the least. If you have been looking for an affordable antique football helmet with tons of character, this is the one!
