Here we have one of the classiest tombstone radios Crosley produced. The 1935 model 715 D. This stunning set features a beautiful burl front, ‘step up‘ top, brass indicator plates, unique dial, and solid performance.

Cabinet: An attractive dark walnut ‘step up‘ top with medium walnut sides, flow into a gorgeous burl front. Pillar like corners add a really nice touch. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. The polished brass escutcheon and indicator plates, above the band switch and tone control, finish this set off with the utmost style and class. This stunning set is sure to be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The process is finished off with a three step polishing process with a final Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio a few small slivers of veneer were repaired along the back side edge of the cabinet and a few minor touch ups to the grill. Many hours of work are put into these cabinets but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with a silk smooth finish and gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office.

Dial/Knobs: The front round dial is in excellent condition, and quite unique. It features an old arching radio tower with the sun, moon, and stars situated between to world globes. All numbers and letters indicating station frequencies are legible and show very little signs of wear. The dial pointer is also in excellent condition and moves nice and smooth around the dial. The dial glass is clear and has no chips, cracks or breaks. The brass escutcheon has been polished and looks great as do the brass indicator plates located above the band switch and tone control. All four bakelite, octagon shaped knobs are in excellent condition and work as they should; tuning, band switch, volume, tone control / on & off.

Electronics/Chassis: The 7 tube chassis has been electronically restored and is in good working order. All bad caps, tubes, and resistors were replaced. Brittle wires were replaced, tuning mechanism cleaned, new dial lamps installed, all contacts/controls/switches cleaned, and realigned. The radio now plays very well with sensitive reception, good tone, lots of volume and no hum on the AM broadcast band. The set also features two shortwave bands. One with police and aviation frequencies, which are no longer broadcast on, and 6.0 - 15 which picks up a few stations at night depending on location and length of antenna.

Dimensions: 13 ½“W x 17 ½“H x 9 ¼“D.

Approximate Shipping cost: $45 East Coast, $55 Central, $65 West Coast.
