Click here to add us to your favorites! Be sure to check out our other antique radio auctions! We post new listings of antique radios on Thursday nights and some Sunday nights! Here we have an elegant, and rarely seen, 1939 Zenith 5-R-316 Long Distance Table Radio. This set features stunning inlays, pushbutton tuning, classic gold dial, and excellent performance. Cabinet: The golden oak cabinet is in exceptional condition. Virtually flawless. Beautiful wrap around inlays, outlined with gold pin striping, are quite the ‘eye catcher’. Notice the ribbon cut wood grain, running in opposite directions, on the inlays…Stunning! Jet black trim on the top of the cabinet is complimented nicely by a brown mahogany inlay on the bottom. An Art Deco grill and gold escutcheon featuring pushbutton tuning, indicated by station call letters, finish this set off with elegance and class. Email me to see photos with Zoom Views or ask any questions. The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The process is finished off with a three step polishing process with a final Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into these cabinets but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with a silk smooth finish and gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office. Dial/Knobs: This is Zenith’s classic ’gold dial’. You don’t see too many of these, and this one is just gorgeous! All the AM frequencies are represented by a unique font that makes for a real classy look. All letters and numbers, as well as all the half moon designs beside the station frequencies, are legible and show no sign of wear. The dial lights nice and bright and the dial lens is in excellent condition as is the gold ’Z’ dial pointer. The gold escutcheon is also in great shape. The two Ivory ‘Z’ knobs are perfect and work as they should; on/off volume & tuning. All the ivory preset pushbuttons are in excellent condition, and fully functional. It is, however, recommended that you tune the radio manually due to the age and delicacy of the pushbutton tuning mechanism.Electronics/Chassis: Zenith’s famous 5 tube Copper chassis is in great condition. A complete restoration was done on the chassis including all new caps, filters, and resistors. All tubes were tested for optimal strength. All contacts were cleaned, dial lamp replaced, and the set was realigned. The radio now plays beautifully with sensitive reception, lots of volume, and no hum. I will include a 30 day warranty on the tubes, caps and filters. Dimensions: 13 ½“W x 8 ½“H x 6“D. Approximate Shipping Costs: $30 East Coast, $40 Central, $48 West Coast
