Here's one more rare and beautiful old 4/4 violin stamped GUSETO

We would estimate it's age at end 1800s / early 1900s, built by a German master.  Please scroll down to see all detailed photos as part of the item description!

Very rare and well crafted instrument, with accurately worked inlaid purfling and nicely carved scroll, which had been masterly grafted to the neck. The violin is in playable condition, it shows no cracks, but a firmly re-glued middle seam on the front below the tailpiece, and surely some marks in it's beautiful old varnish ! The table is finely grained spruce and the one-piece back is - as well as the neck and ribs - nicely flamed maple. The ebony pegs are fitting well, the ebony fingerboard is plain and the ebony tail piece is mounted with 1 fine tuner/adjuster.


Rare beautiful old violin in reasonable condition with nice tone, well balanced with good projection on all strings. A new set of strings would surely improve the sound. Please see all detailed photos below.  Measures aprox.: total 59,5 cm / 23.42”, body 36 cm / 14.17”, vibrating chord length 31,7 cm / 12.48”, weight ~470 gr / 1.036 lbs. For further questions please feel free to ask, or/and - as we sell a lot of different violins - we would recommend to do a bit of internet research (Google etc.) about makers, models and prices.


Please be aware, that mostly all violins we offer are old and in used condition - it might differ from instrument to instrument, but each violin will probably need personal settings, such as new strings etc. to suit your individual needs ...
