Brief Synopsis of DVD: Some stories are truly timeless, and the classic “rags to riches” theme is one of them. This 7 DVD Rags to Riches Box Set is an assemblage of vintage films that all contain touching stories involving the disenfranchised gaining sudden ascent to the heights of society. Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) is the most classical of these films - Freddie Bartholomew is the adorable orphan who gets swept off into the realm of servants and mansions. This effect of transportation – and transformation – always produces atmospheres for tension, adaptation, class differences, and an underlying tenderness that leads to a sense of the unifying humanity in all of mankind. The 7 DVD Rags to Riches Box Set is a superb collection of heartwarming films.

Starring no less than the eternal Gary Cooper and sensational Barbara Stanwyck, Meet John Doe is a story of the creation of a political icon through media manipulation and public fraud. Brief Synopsis of DVD: The most faithful film of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, William J. Cowen’s version of Oliver Twist is as heartwarming today as it was in the early nineteen thirties. An orphaned boy named Oliver Twist, played by the adorable Dickie Moore, struggles on the London streets in the early 19th century. Weakened by starvation and backbreaking labor, the young lad learns to pick pockets in order to survive. By a great stroke of good fortune, he picks the pocket of a wealthy and compassionate man who takes him in. But from there, his past ever tries to intrude and the boy must rely on courage and grit to get him through.
