Olympus BH-2 BHS Trinocular Microscope with Lamp Housing and Transformer
Olympus BH-2 microscopes enjoy a great reputation among research labs in many countries, due to their fine design, high quality, easy use, and excellent optics. Not to mention good looks, which has led to copycat designs by some other makers. They will continue to be popular and in wide use for many years to come, and parts and accessories should also remain relatively common. I certainly prefer my personal research BH-2 BHS over all of the many brands and models of scopes I have used during the past 30 years. The BHS version differs from the BHT in that the BHS has a wider base (more stable) and a very powerful 100 watt halogen light source in a removable housing. It generally comes with a trinocular head, very useful for photography (you can add your own camera and adapter projection lens). It also has a quick-removable nose turret, which allows an easy swap with another set of objectives.
This example has the 200/240 volt electrical base as used in European and some other countries. For use in North America, I am including a transformer and plug adapter that steps up our standard 115 voltage to 240 volts of output at 250 watts maximum load. There are five objectives, a mix of Dplan and Splan that are all of the LB type developed by Olympus for the BH-2 line of microscopes. They are parfocal, in immaculate condition, and provide truly excellent images.
The following are included:
WHK 10x/20 L eyepieces (2)
BH2-TR30 trinocular head
Five-place removable turret with four Olympus LB-type objectives:
DPlan 4 0.10 160/0.17; SPlan 10 0.30 160/.017; DPlan 20 0.40 160/0.17 with spring tip; SPlan 40 0.70 160/0.17 with spring tip; and DPlan 100 1.25 oil 160/0.17 with spring tip
BH2-SC swing-out condenser, n.a. 0.9 - 0.16
BHS-LSH Rear lamp housing with a 100 watt halogen bulb, spare bulb, and power cord
BH2-FM swing-out filter holder with one blue filter
InterTAN Step-Up Transformer and plug adapter

The microscope works well, movements are smooth, and the stand has a good original finish. All optics are clean and free of scratches. The stage and condenser holder, field lens, slide holder, filter holder, and 100x objective are unused "new old stock." Faults include a moderate hum from the transformer (I believe it is normal), and the light bar for the lighting power does not progress up its light scale. The gray plastic hand rest cover on the right side has a small piece broken from its front corner (see photos). The trinocular head could use a professional interior cleaning although it still gives good images.
This fine microscope and accessories show definite signs of use, but no serious flaws or blemishes except as noted. I will warrant that when this microscope leaves my shop, it is complete, clean, adjusted, tested, and functioning as described.
The item is at my new shop in New Brunswick, Canada and will be mailed from here, or I can bring it to a U.S. post office or UPS office for shipping if needed, with insurance required in the price. Only the actual shipping is charged, no handling or packing fee, and it will be carefully packed. You would need to allow me up to a week to ship it from the USA, as I cannot travel that far very often and you will not save money. I can also send it overseas, but it is very heavy and your shipping costs will be high, while delivery can be very slow. Use the shipping calculator, or contact me for an estimate. If you already have access to 240 volt power outlets, you will not need the transformer and can save 10 pounds of shipping weight, and I will discount $60 if I keep it. If you are not satisfied with this microscope, contact me within 7 days, send everything back in the same good condition, and I will refund your money (not shipping).
