Also be sure to read the Important Notes at the end of the description! ~~Description: This is an original old time corn sheller that is operated with a hand crank, this was made by the Simmons Company and is marked with the Simmons name as well as a patent date of 1912. Would estimate that this would be in the 1910's to 1920 range, but if someone knows for sure, please do let us know! The item remains in very sound shape structure wise, I did not see any cracked parts that can happen with the heavy cast iron farm items, the item has a lot of surface rust on it as you can see from the photo's, but there are no weak or even close to rusted out areas at all. ~~The item measures around 11.5" tall overall, the grinding or shelling disc is 8.5" in diameter and the handle is 8.75" long. The only other markings on the item are numbers of 1, 5 and 8. The handle is in good shape structure wise except for the hand grip as the wood is gone, but the stem is there. The teeth on the drum are all in place and seem to be pretty good, the inlet parts where you slip the corn cob into remains in good shape, and there is still a working spring that allows the larger cobs to go through by expanding some, as the spring does flex up and down some. ~~The nuts and washer that hold the crank on are still in place and come loose without too much trouble, the two mounting bolts towards the bottom are still there but sure they would need replacing, and the item still has a fine look and style to it even though it is somewhat darker with the rusted surface stuff. Remains a very sound piece that also has nice display! THANK YOU!! We thank you for checking out this pretty sound corn sheller tool, and believe you will like it well if you are the winning bidder!
Be sure to read ALL of the above info, as well as the following Important Notes!
