The sending of greeting cards at Christmas began in the Victorian era. Though wood engravers produced prints with religious themes in the European Middle Ages, the first commercial Christmas and New Year's card is believed to have been designed and printed in London, England in 1843, the same year that Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol.

Time-Less-Image is proud to offer our collection of Christmas cards, Note cards and Prints. This print Christmas Waltz' is from our original collection of Christmas images : The Holiday Garb Series. There are 5 prints and cards in the series. Each image was painted by Rachel Cochrane and is beautifully presented on Epson Matte paper.The artwork was created digitally, using Corel Painter, the world's leading natural media painting application. This piece "Christmas Waltz" was designed with digital tools to replicate the appearance and texture of pen, ink and digital pastels.
The process employed in the computer darkroom does not involve heavy plates, long exposure times, nor toxic chemicals. However, as with the early pioneers, the final image is a function of light, tone and composition. Relieved of the dangers associated with the original process, we can only hope to some day master a technique that "mirrors the truth". At Time Less Image we continue to seek exquisite beauty in our images, exploring all techniques, old and new.

John Callcott Horsley designed the very first Christmas and New Year's card at the suggestion and request of his friend Sir Henry Cole. In 1843 an edition of 1,000 of these Christmas cards was placed on sale in London. The card shows a family party in progress, beneath which is the greeting, "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You."
Our objective at Time Less Image is to offer the public unique, affordable, original fine art note cards and prints. Initially the collection will consist of original photographs and digital graphic art. In the future we anticipate offering original and reproductions from natural media such as Etchings.
