Photo Selection for Portraits:
The photo should be a clear sharp representation, and minimally 640 pixels wide if it is digital. Ideally, the best shot is taken outside without the use of a flash, which can wash out and flatten the figure. A candid picture is great and if the photo is of several people or pets, the artist can focus the portrait on a particular individual. While the artist cannot make major changes such as removing 40 pounds, changing the clothing, or changing the body posture; minor compositional changes are possible. Please email the artist if there is any question before bidding. The background does not matter since it is simplified to complement the individual in the portrait. Please do not bid if you do not have a photo ready.
Care of Pastel Portraits:
It is recommended for all art work on paper to use UV barrier glass in your frame if possible. The paper should be separated from the glass with a mat or spacers to prevent sticking and minimize the effects of moisture.
Process for Portraits:
After the auction, payment is accepted through Paypal or with a personal check, money order, or cashier's check. For personal checks, please allow several days for the check to clear. The photo can be sent through the mail or a digital picture can be emailed to the artist. Before starting the portrait, the artist will email a digital composition. After the digital sketch or proof is approved, the pastel will be started. Upon completion, an email will be sent with an attached digital image of the portrait to view before shipment.

If you would like a different size paper or to add another person, please email the artist with your request. She can then quote a price for that specific size and type of portrait.

The portrait can be completed within three weeks after receiving approval of the digital composition.
