Sega Genesis was the leader in the 16-bit video game revolution. It featured brilliant graphics, advanced stereo sound, and a vast library of titles. This is the largest of the 3 Sega Genesis models. The Sega Master System adapter works only with this style unit (this adapter allows one to play the older SMS games on this 16-bit system). This is the only model with an earphone jack (with volume control).

While others attempted to emulate Miyamoto's platform innovations, Sonic Team brought something new to the genre with the little mascot that could. Faster and prettier than any previous platformer, Sonic also took the genre vertical and upside-down. The spiky-haired, blue hedgehog became Sega's mascot and managed to dethrone, if only for but a brief while, a seemingly invulnerable King Mario. Burst the video game speed barrier wide-open with Sonic the Hedgehog. Blaze by in a blur using the super sonic spin attack. Loop the loop by defying gravity. Plummet down tunnels. Then dash to safety with Sonic's power sneakers. All at a frenzied pace. Sonic has an attitude that just won't quit!
