My paintings are created at the moment without a plan before starting. They are a discovery and exploration during the moment for me. The whole process of painting and being receptive to the faint sparks of intuition is like a little door that can open to other realms away from the usual everyday world.

About this Original painting

This is a one-of-a-kind original painting (this is not a print or reproduction ) created by myself... David King. It is made using acrylics on pine of spruce board. The wood is not warped and has no sign of any sap or other problems that would affect the painting. Any knots present are solidly part of the wood.

 

Knots, grain and markings are part of the whole creation of the painting. Often, I'll use knots as the Sun or Moon or other detail important to the painting. The finished painting has been varnished to accentuate the colours and to deepen the darker tones to create much more intense contrast and visual power within the work. The painting edge is framed with a simple yet effective coloured wood trim frame and on the back is found a wire for immediate display within your home or office. The painting is signed in a corner with my sign' ... 'DK'.

  • Painting is varnished to protect it, to enhance colours and to deepen the dark tones.

* wood painting trim frame is generally about 1/4" (7mm) thick and 1" wide

 

*Note : due to many factors including the difficulty in adjusting photographs so that all colours and tonal characteristics are exactly true to the actual painting and also due to the fact that many people's monitors aren't adjusted to be as accurate as possible, these photos may show slightly different shades of colours and tones as compared to the actual painting. However, I feel that the digital photographs (as carefully corrected by myself) are quite accurate.

About Me

 

 

 

My name is David King. I am a visual artist living in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Canada's Atlantic coast. I was born in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador (near St. John's) in 1971.

 

For me, the main reason to paint is to discover new things and to experience the calming effects of the creative process. The activity of painting must not have a fully known result or it becomes uninteresting. I am a fan of the "variation on a theme" ideal and enjoy creating paintings within a similar theme but each one being uniquelly different.

 

I work in watercolour & chinese ink, acrylics and also pens and coloured pencils. You can view artworks created in these media here on ebay in various sizes from ACEO's (2.5"x3.5") to larger acrylics on canvas or wood. I also have many 8"x10" or 9"x12" animals now and then including many different dog breeds.
