Ornate Antique Moonstone & Garnet Doublet Pin

This most interesting little pin is shaped sort of like a Maltese cross that is made up of real moonstone crystal balls, a rose cut garnet doublet (top is garnet and bottom is green glass), and probable unmarked gold although I have not tested it. I purchased the piece from a woman who had pulled these items out of storage and which were part of the estate of her elderly great aunt who had passed many years before. Upon close examination with magnification there is absolutely no evidence of any areas of plating loss (like on edges or corners) or tarnish. This is a smaller pin measuring 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inches and all the stones have open backed settings and the clasp is an interesting C type, but with a more secure square design- see picture. The pin and stones seem to be in excellent condition and I note that one of the arrow end points seems slightly twisted from 180 degrees which in the real seems quite minor. The pin appears to date to the mid to late Victorian times and is ornate and very detailed and one could call the tiny moonstone globes really little points of light.
