Ortho-Flex Endurance Cutback Saddle. This saddle has Boar hide leather and
a padded seat. It was built with hard to find short flex panels. This
saddle will fit shorter backed horses that have a hard time wearing a
typical saddle. Most Ortho-Flex saddles are typically built with 25"
long panels, This saddle is a full 2" shorter with panels that measure
just 23" long. Just the perfect fit for an Arab or other short backed
horse.
The serial number is E028. This leads me to believe that
it is one of the very early models made by Ortho-Flex. Unfortunately
their records are incomplete, so I was unable to research specifics
regarding this saddle with Ortho-Flex. The rigging system is simliar to
the U.K. model rigging, which can be adjusted for angle and drop. Use
this saddle with a dressage length girth. Bonus no bulk under your
legs.
I am including one used pair of bikini booties for the
saddle. These can be seen on the panels in the very first photo.
Additional booties can be ordered from Ortho-Flex . With bikini
booties, there is no fleece extending down under the sweat flap. I
used a thin saddle pad under the saddle when riding to protect the
saddle. If you order a replacement set of booties, you can get a
traditional set of booties, that will provide protection under the
sweat flap.
The stirrup length has a wide range of adjustment.
It uses a buckle more commonly found on a traditional Western Saddle.
The stirrups are aluminum with a nicely padded cushion bottom.
The
seat has what I believe to be a medium twist. I am perplexed to
determine the proper way to measure the seat size. Two pictures show a
measuring stick next to the the seat. If I had to give a comparison I
would call it almost 15" western seat or a 18+" dressage seat. I am
5'6" and fit well in the saddle. Shorter and Taller friends have also
ridden in this saddle.
If you email me with questions I will get
right back to you. I am a true fan of the Ortho-Flex saddles, and have
two others I use. I really don't have an excuse to keep so many in my
tack room.
