This black and white fossil is called Orthoceras, and comes from the Sahara Desert, Morocco. Orthoceras (straight shelled Cephalopods) lived approximately 345 to 395 million years ago in the Devonian period. Today's living relatives of this fossil are: Squids, Cuttlefish, Octopods, and the Nautilus.

This beautiful pendant is a one-of-a-kind -- an artistic ORIGINAL EXCLUSIVE DESIGN! I made it myself. I selected the polished Orthoceras Fossil, then thought out the design in my head. Next, I took straight Sterling Silver wire and my small jewelry pliers, and manipulated and fashioned all the loops and bindings you see in the photos myself. I shaped the Silver to follow the natural lines of the piece. The swirls on the neck on the front of the pendant give it a unique flair. The stone is snugly held in place in the front and the back with the back open so that the stone will touch the skin of the new owner. In fact, if you'd like to rub the stone while wearing it, you can do that with your thumb and forefinger on the front and back simultaneously. I try to make lots of my pendants like that so that if you'd like to fiddle with it while you wear it, you can (I do that with lots of my own pendants). The photo is the actual pendant you will own if you are the winning bidder. Also, every one of my creations that is offered, for auction or sale, has never been worn before. When you purchase it, you will be the first person to ever wear it.

Pendant's Approximate Measurements:
It is a hair over 2-1/2" tall, just shy of 3/4" wide, and over 5/16" thick at the swirls design part of the pendant. The stone itself is approximately 47mm x 16mm x 7.45mm, and weighs approximately 6.6 grams, or 33 carats. The bail has a large enough opening that will accommodate a round chain necklace that is as thick as 3mm. And, since the bail is attached so that the pendant swings freely with the wearer, it will not be stiff and get stuck in an awkward position while worn. It will tend to capture the attention of on-lookers, too. ~*~ grin ~*~ (I never solder or use any glue on my creations.)

And (if you are one who feels the energies), this pendant has a potent vibration that feels like mini pulses in the palm of my hand when I hold it. Very unexpectedly, I got tiny tingles all in my upper spine near the back of my head which is the back side of the Third Eye Chakra! Cool!

I have no medical evidence to substantiate the correlation between wearing this stone and the effects it will have on the wearer. The mystical healing properties offered above were partially paraphrased from one of a series of books by Melody. Melody suggests that the metaphysical properties listed for each stone will have these effects on the wearer WHILE he/she concentrates on the desired outcome. The author further states that this is NOT a substitute for consulting your physician; and I agree. When I wear any of my stones or crystals, I feel empowered by them. Maybe it is just because I WEAR them with specific intentions -- it works because I told my mind it would, OR does it work because of the molecular interaction between my body and the stones/crystals? I do not know. All I know is it seems to work FOR ME.

I tried many photos. Maybe the ones I have chosen to present can give you some idea of the pendant's presence. I hope they do. There are several different photos of the pendant on here for your viewing (one with a ruler, a few photos of the stone before it was wrapped, indoor and outdoor photos of the pendant, and photos with different backgrounds, etc.) - same pendant, just different photos. (Sorry, the choker I used for photos is not included in the auction. Since many of my customers who purchase pendants also wish to purchase a chain necklace, I have a few chains left that I reserve for customers who need one to go with the pendants that they purchase.
