Fossil display piece with two raised polished orthoceras fossils and many others visible in the background stone.

Bottom in natural unpolished state.

About Orthoceras

These extinct mollusks had a long, chambered shell that tapered to a point. Orthoceras first appears in the fossil record about 450 to500 million years ago. It populated mostly warm, shallow seas. Usually in the 2 - 12 inch range, the giant of the species grew up to 16 feet long. They became extinct around the same time as the dinosaurs. Other branches of the family tree survived, and evolved into the nautilus that we know today.

Shipping

Items are shipped on Wednesday of each week (please contact us for rush order requests). We will provide insurance information to any buyer who's item is damaged in transit, but cannot be responsible for carrier's services. Shipping cannot be charged to buyer's or third party's shipping account. Combined shipping is offered on items that can be shipped together in one package. Paypal items must be shipped to confirmed address on file with PayPal.
