Orville Wright SIGNEDRARE "25 Years Ago"1928 International CivilAeronautics Conference Book
Inscribed
and signed by Orville Wright, who, along with his brother Wilbur, is credited
with inventing, building, and flying the first controlled, powered and sustained
heavier-than-air human flight on December 17, 1903! This book was handed
out at the International Civil Aeronautics Conference in Washington, D. C.,
which was held on December 12-14, 1928. It is 23 pages long and contains
Orville Wright's own account of that historic series of events,
entitled "How We Made the First Flight" (which was first published in
"Flying" magazine in 1913). A
fantastic collector's item!
Signature
has been certified by Global Authentication Inc., the premier authentication
service! Small oblong hardcover with a short inscription ("To Florence
Bergstrom with best wishes"), a signature and an authentication sticker on page
12 (GAI # GV 485891). The inscription and signature have faded over time,
but they are still visible. Includes several photographs. The book has aged moderately well but shows some signs of wear. Original blue leatherette boards with titles and front board decorations in silver. Spine is cracked and is missing a few pieces, some rubbing on edges of boards (wear also goes through to board on tips of outside corners), some faint vertical crease marks on boards (though both remain rigid), some scratches and a small amount of red wax on front board. Pages are generally clean aside from a few exceptions: tiny paperclip rust mark in center of front paste-down page, some light toning on pages, original owner's name on top left corner of free front end page.
