The sample is loosely mounted on cardboard folder, which has a window cutout on the cover revealing the framed textile beneath. Apart from the designs, the collection emphasizes variety of techniques and materials used. B. Size of Folder: 10" x 13 1/8" (25.5 x 35 cm.) II. Antique Ottoman Silk & Gilt Silver Embroidery 1. Silk and gilt silver embroidery on black silk, Ottoman period, Turkey, early 18th century. Thin, lightweight and finely hand loomed textile. Could be from an article of court clothing with floral, crescent moon and star motifs. Sumptuous fine weaves like this were most likely produced by court weavers. B. Extremely fine yellow silk was wrapped with gilt silver and used to embroider the floral, crescent moon and star motifs. B. Some of the metallic threads are worn exposing the bright yellow silks. V.
