This 140,000 BTU Central Heating Hot Water wood/coal fired boiler has never been installed, never had a fire in it and never had water in it. All parts and components in this sale are NOS (New Old Stock.) It is constructed of ¼” thick steel plate. It is very heavy. The water jacket which surrounds the firebox holds approximately 10 gallons of water. It is controlled by an aquastat that modulates the combustion air damper. It has both a 1-1/4” pipe thread water inlet and outlet. I was going to install it in my home a number of years ago however, due to medical issues I can’t be hauling firewood anymore. It’s been taking up storage and workspace and I’d like to see someone make good use of it. Whoever that may be will need to have a good knowledge of boiler systems as, the installation instructions were misplaced. The only documentation included is for the aquastat. The data plate indicates it was manufactured in Watertown, S. Dakota 57201 by “The Furnace Works.” It is a model SFB-3. The test date is 8/11/80. The outside dimensions are 29” wide X 35” long X 48” high. However, the height can be changed by changing the length of the legs (1-1/4” pipe.) The exhaust/chimney opening is 6”. It will take about a 22” log or it can burn coal. If it’s used for coal, I assume it should have fire brick installed in the bottom of the firebox. For wood, probably a grate. It is not a gasification or catalytic type of furnace.
Included are the accessories which are currently attached to the boiler;
1 each “Nutone” #C909, 120 volt – 8, 16, 24 volt 20 va transformer,
1 each “American Valve” ½” long shank boiler drain valve,
1 each 24 volt “Motortrol” damper control motor,
1 each aquastat,
1 each pressure relief valve,
1 each temperature/ pressure gauge,
1 extra fire door seal.
Also included are the following components which may be needed for installation;
2 each “Taco Gold,” 24 volt, ¾ inch sweat, zone valves,
2 each “Honeywell,” FV 180, 1/8 inch “Gold Top” air vents,
4 each “American Valve,” 3/4 inch, sweat gate valves,
1 each “Bell and Gosset” 110192 pressure reducing supply valve (w/quick feed,)
1 each “Watts” ½ BBFP back-siphon/backpressure protection valve (backflow preventer,)
2 each Honeywell general purpose 24vac switching relays.
As stated above, I have no installation paperwork. There’s some information on the data plate such as recommended clearances to combustible materials but, it will require someone with a good knowledge of boilers to set it up. The electrical connections will be pretty straight forward with one connection for the main power (120 VAC) and the other connection to the circulating pump which is marked. I have included pretty much all the information I know about this boiler. It could be used for a wide variety of applications. Payment due via Paypal within 72 hours of auction end
