Why The Round Back?

When Charlie Kaman set about to build a better guitar 35 years ago, he had no preconceived notions about instrument design. After much analysis and experimentation, a parabolic "bowl" shape proved to give the best projection, volume and tone. Ovation gained its fame with its round back and today makes roundbacks in three body sizes -- super shallow, mid-depth, and deep. Whichever one you choose, you'll get clear projection and rich, full tone.

 

Minimal bracing = Maximum Sound

The Celebrity features bracing that was perfected over the last few years through a computer modeling process. This technology was once only available in more expensive instruments.

OP-PRO Designed in collaboration with Al DiMeola and Melissa Etheridge, the new OP-PRO combines state-of-the-art audio quality with guitarist-friendly features for a preamp that should please even the most discriminating player.

 

Condition:

As you can see in the pictures the finish on this guitar is in excellent shape. There are almost no problems. There are some very minor scrapes here and there the the only significant problems being what looks like something rubbed the fretboard and "dulled" the finish down near the body (pictured) and the top has been refinished, by a professional luthier, after the original finish was chipped; so it's not quite as perfect as an original finish, but still looks great. The guitar functions perfectly, sounds great, and is in perfect structural condition. So, if you don't mind some slight cosmetic flaws you can save some money on a great instrument.

History

This guitar is a factory second model and has never been taken home by anyone. I purchased it from a wholesaler that takes in discontinued, cosmetically imperfect, demo and overstock guitars from manufacturers, repairs them (if necessary), sets them up to factory specifications and resells them. It's gone through a 6 step inspection process to make sure you're getting a great instrument, exactly as described.

 

Used?

Why do we call our guitars used? The wholesaler that we buy from has promised the manufacturers that they deal with that their guitars will not have any warranty claims on them. To prevent that they stamp "used" on the headstock and remove part of the serial number.
