This is a terrific buy!
This baby grand has been around for awhile. We estimate it to be 80-100yrs. old.
This tiger maple beauty has been in our family for about 18yrs. Mom would sit and play in the afternoons to relax and the melodies would fill the two story house we lived in. My favorites were the Mozart tunes she'd play. Those were the days.
Now mom is gone and I can't play so I'd like to find a nice home for this distinguished instrument.
It is a Packard Scale 10 as you can see by the photos. I don't know much about pianos but I'm hoping you will. I am going to include the information I have been able to collect so far.
I had a local antique dealer look at it and he valued it at about $18k. I don't have room for it in my home so I'm listing it for less than 1/3 of the appraisal value and hoping for the best.
The measurements are 63"Lx56"Wx37-1/2"H. It has a few scratches but nothing that detracts from its beauty. There are no perfomance issues. It's a model #785 and we can't find a serial number anywhere. It has the insignia MULTUM IN PARVO cast into the frame of the harp. On the foot pedal stand is stamped "F.TEGTMEYER" I don't know if that means something special but there it is. It was well maintained and tuned regularly.
It includes a matching tiger maple piano bench (not the original) with a padded baroque cover. It has the classic cabriole legs with the claw and ball feet. It also has the cubby for music books, sheet music, piano tools, etc.
Mom had a terrific eye for furniture!
I have more pictures if your interested and if you have any questions or helpful information for me, I will appreciate an email from you.
Now to discuss shipping. You will need to make the neccessary shipping arrangements to get it! You'll need to consult a piano moving company or pick it up yourself. I imagine you will want to see it for your self or send a professional appraiser to inspect it before purchasing. That's fine. I live in Sutherlin, Oregon just so you know where you'll be going.
I know paypal is listed but they will take to high a percentage from this items sale so please send a cashiers check only.
On May-09-08 at 12:41:40 PDT, seller added the following information:I just talked to a local dealer and he estimated the age of manufacturing to be between 1905 and 1920. I will continue collecting and adding information as it comes in so stay tuned!
On May-10-08 at 16:35:03 PDT, seller added the following information:I have recieved additional information about this piano. I was told by a piano expert that pianos from this era were all stained. This one has been refinished but not restained. Frankly, I prefer the natural beauty of the tiger maple. How about you?
