PAIR VICTORIAN CRESCENT MOON HOT WATER URNS - EXOTIC!

Fantastic for the holidays! We have never seen anything like these magnificent silver plate hot water urns, fresh out of an old Connecticut estate! Can't find any marks but, from their lid design and feet, they appear to be English, Sheffield. They are not Old, fused plate, Sheffield, but they are definitely mid-Victorian. They are a near pair: one is slightly taller than the other, but in general form and appearance they are decidedly 'related', and provide far more interest than an identical pair. DIMENSIONS:  17.25 inches HIGH, and 17.75 inches HIGH. Both are 12 inches WIDE. There is some copper showing through, as would be expected from their age. They could use a better polish, but we didn't want to overdo it. One is shown with its burner cover in place; the other is missing its. This is not critical, as burners can be found pretty easily online. The ring-handles are held in the mouths of some pretty ferocious lions, and the caryatid legs on one sport rather Egyptian-looking maidens, with bared breasts and very delicate feet. These would be absolutely commanding on a sideboard or on pedestals in a dining room or entrance hall. The Middle Eastern influence of them is truly captivating. Buyer to pay shipping.
