PERSIAN INFLUENCED FERDOWS BALUCH RUG. COLLECTIBLE ONE!

ANTIQUE BALUCH RUG, South-East Persian, tribes of Ferdows area, 19th century, and in good collectible condition. The exact size is: 3'-1" x 5'-0" (94 x 153 cm). Rarely do these types of Baluch rugs with classic Persian Mina Khani designs come available. The present offering has 100% natural dyes with both the warps and wefts being cotton. This design and color palette are also found on Turkmen Beshire weavings. This colorful and well executed specimen has fairly good allover pile condition showing some wear areas in the upper section (see close up photos). The original side cord over-castings (either horse or goat hair) need mended in places. Remnants of the original plain-weave end finishes are present on both the top and bottom and need to be sewn back secure. The carpet has latex residue on the reverse, an old time remedy for keeping floor rugs from slipping on a hard surface. Perhaps a restoration service can safely remove this element?  Notwithstanding these inherent problems, this is still a very desirable type of collector weaving. A near-identical example of this type is published by Brian W. MacDonald in his splendidly illustrated book "Tribal Rugs - Treasures of the Black Tent", as color plate 157, page 218.
