I'm offering approximately 1.6 lbs of plastilina clay, a 9.5" plastic turntable, and a small roll of galvanized wire, for making armatures (support for your model). The wire is not shown. It is a light guage and could be easily manipulated and shaped by the average person. Most artists use this with clay sculpture modeling. None was used in the incomplete sculpture shown, but could have been, with somewhat better results.
The plastic turntable can be drilled, if you like, so that armature wires can be hooked in for better support of your sculpture.
The main advantage of the turntable is that it allows you to physically lift, move and rotate your sculpture without disturbing it or causing damage by unnecessary handling. This makes visualization of all aspects and completion much faster and easier, more intuitive.
Plastilina is clean and easy, pleasant to work with, very therapeutic and suitable for all but very young children (children should have adult supervision).
Shown is an unfinished sculpture (Arabian horse headstudy) made in approximately two hours at a relaxed rate, with ony the kit I am selling. I used only one tool, a manicure cuticle tool (not included). I did not use any armature wire, but I am including some for you, because if you intend to make a full body sculpture with legs, tail, etc. and a head that is self-supporting, you will definitely need support for it. This is thin wire but it can be twisted to make more support where needed. Note that the multicolor plastilina in no way impedes the modeling process and can be used to accent and identify areas where you have added on (or taken off), here and there.
Plastilina sculptures can be cast very easily, using a poured mold, and are very easy to remove from the mold (but the original will be destroyed, while the plastilina can be reused).
And, if you want to try your hand at claymation for your own online video animation presentations, multicolor plastilina is a must-have! If you want more clay added to your order, just ask!
Best of all, plastilina (oil based clay) is very workable, does not dry and can be used over and over, again! My favorite tool is my fingertips, but you can get very good results with dental tools, cuticle pushers and orange sticks, toothpicks, pieces of plastic cutlery, and many other items you can find right in your kitchen and garage!
Note: Only sulfur-free plastilina can be cast with RTV silicone and perhaps some other rubber mold materials, as it will not cure properly. If you plan to use natural or synthetic rubber mold materials, you must use the professional green / gray sculptor's plastilina.
