This is a lady's platinum wedding set, in excellent (like new) condition, consisting of:
1) One (1) size 4 1/2 platinum (95% pure) 3-stone diamond engagement ring, featuring:
A) One (1) round brilliant cut diamond that measures 6.95-6.98x3.39mm and weighs 1.30 carats, by scale (this diamond is offered loose; see explanation below). The color grade (as determined by GIA) is "J", in the near colorless range. The clarity grade (as determined by GIA) is "VS2", and there are absolutely no inclusions visible to the unaided eye; in fact, it's difficult to find any with 10X magnification! The cut grade (as determined by GIA) is "Very Good". The symmetry is "Excellent" and the polish is "Very Good". There is no fluorescence, no culet, and the girdle is thin to medium. Please review the attached scan of the GIA Report for additional specs (last picture).
This diamond is NOT cloudy and has NOT been clarity enhanced. It is very well cut and it exhibits great brightness, fire and scintillation. It is presently loose; as shown in the pictures, it was originally set in the center of the basket-style mounting with four prongs. The inside of the slightly tapered 2.5 to 1.7mm shank is stamped "PLAT 950", and with the manufacturer's trademark. This ring weighs 5.2 grams. We are figuring our price for this loose diamond at $4,050.00, which is less than we - as experienced jewelers/diamond buyers - can hope to buy it from our suppliers, and about $1,000.00 less than the best Blue Nile price for a similarly graded diamond (please check it out!)
After these pictures were taken, the center (1.30 carats) diamond was removed from it's setting and shipped to the Gem Trade Laboratory of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) for a full Diamond Grading Report (GIA's lab only grades loose diamonds). We have received the diamond - and the Report - back from GIA on 10/23/09.
A scan of the brand new full GIA Grading Report (dated 10/16/09) is attached (PLEASE SEE LAST PICTURE). Also, we have asked GIA's Lab to inscribe the number of the Report - by laser - on the girdle of the diamond, so that you could be sure that the diamond you receive is in fact the one described in the GIA Grading Report; this laser inscription - with the GIA logo - can only be seen with magnification.
B) Two (2) round brilliant cut diamonds that weigh approx. .45 carat each, for a total weight of approx. .90 carat. They have a color grade of "I/J", in the near colorless range and clarity grades of "1@ SI1 and 1@ SI2", with absolutely NO inclusions visible with the unaided eye. They are set with four prongs each, in basket-style settings, one on each side of the center stone, at a slight angle from - and at a slightly lower level than - the center stone. We are figuring our price for these two diamonds at $1,000.00; that's less than their wholesale value and over $300.00 less than Blue Nile.
PLEASE NOTE: Unless you prefer that we re-set the center diamond back in the engagement ring, we will ship it loose, so that you could verify it's weight and grading; the engagement ring, now called "semi-mount", will be shipped already set with the two smaller diamonds. You could have your - hopefully reputable and experienced - jeweler re-set the center diamond and size the rings. Unfortunately, we are not able to do any platinum sizing, however we would be glad to stretch the rings one-half size up, to size 5 or perhaps even to size 5 1/4 maximum, free of charge.
The total weight of all three (3) diamonds in this ring is 2.20 carats.
2) One (1) platinum (95% pure) bright polished wedding band (size 4 1/2). It has a medium dome and a width of 2.5mm. It is stamped "950 Pt" and with the manufacturer's trademark. It weighs 2.9 grams.
We are figuring our price for the platinum engagement ring mounting (without the diamonds) and for the platinum wedding band at only $549.00 (compare with Blue Nile's price of $1,165.00)..
Please note: You would have to pay somewhere between $7,500.00 and $8,000.00 to purchase a similar set - with similarly graded diamonds - from Blue Nile; you save at least $1,900.00! Please check it out.. We are offering this splendid set - in "like new" condition - for less than the cost of manufacture.. It has an estimated value of $12,000.00, in a retail jewelry store.
The full GIA Grading Report for the center diamond and a nice presentation box will be included with this set.
