The item you are looking at here has a unique background which we’ll share with you. The artist who crafted this woodwork was a former vendor at classic film festivals, primarily in the northeastern U.S. He was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer and can no longer travel. We’ve offered some of his work for several years now and he has asked us if we would help him liquidate his inventory to help pay for his medical bills. We are happy to be able to assist him in this endeavor. For anybody who may have crossed paths with Van on the film festival circuit you are well aware of the quality of his work, as well as his character. ~ ~ ~ In considering a bid on this item be aware that in addition to assisting this gentleman, you are also investing in a high quality hand made item which is a truly rare and unique collectible. Most of these items are actually one-of-a-kind and for the sake of variety he never made more than two of any given piece. If you want to be the only person on the planet to acquire a truly unique gift or collectible item, here is your opportunity. Because of his health, Van is no longer creating these works of art so once this item is gone, it’s gone forever. ~ ~ ~ Here is a little background to his process and the construction of this sculpture as the 3-D effect does not come through nearly as well on camera as it does in real life. It starts with multiple copies of the same image, the number varying with the number of levels to be seen in the finished piece. Each image is then laminated onto a sheet of wood. The images are then cut out with a precision scroll saw. Each of the edges is sanded and painted to provide smooth surfaces and a consistent look. ~ ~ ~
The last step is like putting together a three-dimensional puzzle. Using the spatial elements of depth appropriate for each particular image, the body parts of the character(s) are layered to achieve the striking multi-dimensional result. The various layers are then glued together, one on top of the other, to finish the piece.

There is a particularly unique design to this sculpture. He only made two like this and this is the only one we have left. It’s designed to look like a billboard and there’s a wooden attachment on the back that allows it to be self-standing.
This one-of-a-kind hand-cut wooden three-dimensional sculpture of Tigger, Piglet and Pooh measures 13 inches high, 11 inches wide, and is built on four levels as detailed below. ~~~
On the top level: The figures of Tigger, Piglet, Pooh and the stone fence and foliage below them. ~~~
On the 2nd level: the blue sky / green grass background. ~~~
On the 3rd level: the yellow, blue and red perimeter to the rectangular image including the text of “Steady there, Buddy Bear!” along the top. ~~~
On the back level: the two gold “legs” supporting the billboard. ~~~
There is wooden stand attached to the bottom of the piece so that it can stand on its own.
The artist’s original price tag of $50 is just on a peel-off sticker that can be easily removed from the sculpture.
