USE FOR DETECTION OF REPRODUCTIONS AND REPAIRS

Hold blacklight close to the surface of the item being examined.  Examine under subdued lighting or darkness.

REPAIRS:

Black lights can detect most repairs. Most new paints and touchups will fluoresce differently than the original paints. You can use this to check paintings, furniture, metals and any other item with paint. 

MARBLE:

With Marble, touchups and repairs will fluoresce differently. New surfaces  and aged surfaces have different reactions to black lights.

REPRODUCTIONS:

Reproductions of glass antiqeus will fluoresce differently, unless the manufacture of the reproduction used the same materials as the original manufactuers.  Many vaseline reproductions will not fluoresce at all. 

GLASS

Antique Vaseline Glass - has Yellow / Green fluorescence.

Lalique (pre 1940) Yellow or peach fluorescence

Lalique (post 1940) Blue and white (usually) fluorescence.

Burmese - Yellow and green fluorescence

Heisey - yellow fluorescence.

IVORY

Older Ivory has dull mottled yellow fluorescence.

URINE

Pet urine will usually fluorescence.  Use to check to see where you dogs & cats have been bad!
