With the Apex Extreme you get 4 brightness levels plus safety flashing. The Apex Extreme headlamp gives you versatile lighting options - center long range MaxBright LED (with 2 brightness levels), 4 close range LEDs (with 2 brightness levels), powered by a convenient 8 AA battery pack that can be attached to a belt or pants.

Maxbright LED - Maxbright LEDs are extremely bright and efficient. The single LED emits a smooth powerful white light for mid to long range tasks.

Ultrabright LEDs - Ultrabright LEDs are bright and efficient. They emit a smooth powerful "shadow free" light for close to mid-range tasks. Ultrabright LEDs are the highest quality available from Nichia.

Regulated LED/Constant Brightness - Princeton Tec lights that feature Constant Brightness have a sophisticated regulating circuit that maintains initial brightness as long as the batteries have sufficient voltage.

Heatsink Technology/Thermal Regulation - Princeton Tec has developed proprietary ultralight heatsinks to protect LED products from overheating. Even though LEDs operate at much lower temperatures than traditional incandescent bulbs, they still generate heat. If the heat is not dissipated, the LED will suffer irreversible damage. By using heatsinks, Princeton Tec lights can burn at extreme brightness levels for long periods of time.

Battery Power Meter - The battery power meter quickly relates the condition of the batteries to the user. This information allows the user to make educated decisions about changing batteries or packing spare batteries.
