POWER Wrist Builders® --
General Description
12 Models to choose from.
Each stick is 15-1/2" long and are 3/8", 1/2", 5/8",
3/4" in diameter. Made from the highest quality SOLID
aluminum and SOLID brass materials available and range in
weight from 2.4 ounces (57 grams) to 28 ounces (795 grams). The brass
models weigh approximately three times as much as the aluminum models of
the same diameter. The Product
Line table (below) provides a cross reference of the PWB
model specifications.
POWER Wrist Builders® are NOT “metal
over wood” or “hollow aluminum shafts” or any other form of metal
sticks. Each PWB is one SOLID
piece of highly machined aluminum or brass material, balanced, serialized
and finished as a “work of art” that has been designed to
increase a drummer’s wrist strength, agility, endurance and speed.
Don’t be confused by
“want-to-be’s or imitations”. There
is no other product line that can provide the variety or depth in
size and weights of this truly remarkable exercise tool. The PWB is balanced like a wood
drum stick, is shapped like a wood drum stick (no add-on weights attached
to the stick i.e. ‘donut-ring’) and plays like a wood stick.
Besides never wearing out, like a wood
stick, you will be able to use them for a life-time. You may need more then one size or weight
as you progress through your drumming career. I have my original aluminum sticks (1958)
that my drum teacher made for me as a practice tool. Choose a PWB that fits your grip
and start ‘light’ and work your way up in weight or simply do more
repetitions (like a weight lifter) to gain the full benefit of your POWER
Wrist Builders®
Aluminum Models
The original POWER Wrist Builders®
were made by hand from the highest quality SOLID Aluminum
(T-6061). Today the aluminum
models, as well as the brass models, are made on computer controlled
CNC machines to exacting specifications.
The six aluminum models range in weight from 2 ounces (57
grams), basically the same weight of a wood stick, up to 10 ounces (284
grams). Each model is anodized (an
electrolytic passivation process) a different color to provide easy
recognition as well as a protective finish to the PWB. The six sizes (diameters) of POWER
Wrist Builders® (both aluminum and brass models) provide an
ample sampling of the over 1,300 wood stick diameters and length
combinations made in the percussion market today,
Brass Models
During the test market phase, various
designs, styles, and materials were researched. The six brass models
of POWER Wrist Builders® are a result of this consumer
testing. These practice sticks are manufactured to the same exacting
specifications as the SOLID aluminum ones, but are made from high
quality, SOLID brass. The brass models weigh approximately three
times as much as the aluminum models of the same
diameter. Because of their weight, extreme care and caution should
be used when using the brass models.
NOTE: Because of their weight, extreme care and caution
should be used when using the brass models.

FAQ's:
What are POWER Wrist Builders®?
POWER Wrist Builders® are
SOLID aluminum and SOLID brass drum sticks that
weight 2 ounces (70 grams) to 28 ounces (795 grams). When POWER Wrist
Builders® are used in your
daily practice routine they will build strength, agility, speed and
endurance in your wrists and forearms.
Why so many models?
POWER Wrist Builders® were
designed to enhance a percussionist or drummer's effectiveness. Everyone has different needs and
requirements. No two people are
alike in size or strength. So, it is
a natural evolution to have different sizes and weights for such varied
physical requirements and needs.
The
SOLID aluminum models range in weight from 2 ounces (70
grams) to 16 ounces (454 grams). The
diameters of these 6 models range from 3/8" to 3/4". The smallest diameter 3/8", can be
used by the youngest students but still have the weight of the standard 2B
stick. Mallet players have also
used the 3/8" diameter model to practice a single-handed mallet
roll. The added weight provides a
real workout. At the opposite end of
the size range, the 3/4" model will satisfy the most demanding
drummers in both size and weight requirements.
The
SOLID brass models range in weight from 8 ounces (227 grams)
to 28 ounces (795 grams). The diameters of these 4 models range from
3/8" to 3/4".
As
the size of the POWER Wrist Builders® becomes larger, caution
and common sense must be used when practicing. Only the more experienced
percussionists and drummers should be using the heavier models, and for no
more than a maximum of then 10-15 minutes per day during their practice
sessions.
Why do some models have a HEX grip?
As
one gains experience in playing, different philosophies may be explored in
regards to holding the drum stick, traditional grip as opposed to match
grip for example. One of those
techniques philosophies involves a stick with a “hex grip” – a six-sided
drum stick grip at the butt end of the stick. Some believe this may increase the ‘grip’
and control of the stick. i.e.
finger control techniques. These
four models allow you to explore those techniques with various weights and
sizes of POWER Wrist Builders®. Give it a try.
What should I practice when using
the POWER Wrist Builders®?
Practice
the same daily warm-up routine that you have always used, as well as your
lessons. After your allotted time
has passed, rest your wrists for a few minutes and then transfer back to
your regular wood sticks. You will
feel the difference immediately. Repeated use of this technique will
increase your strength, endurance and agility.
Can I use the BRASS POWER Wrist
Builders®
to practice with?
Of
course. The four models of solid
brass POWER Wrist Builders® may be used to practice and warm-up. The most experienced drummers who have
need for extremely strong wrists and increased endurance should only use
these four models.
How does it work?
Like
weight lifters who use bar bells to build and tone their muscles, drummers
use POWER Wrist Builders® as 'bar bells' to tone and build wrist and
forearm muscles. Multiple
repetitions and 'sets' of routines will gradually build up strength over a
period of time.
How long does it take?
If
you practice or warm-up 10-15 minutes a day, you will see dramatic improvement
in your strength, endurance, and agility immediately. When your wrists get tired, then you know
that POWER Wrist Builders® are working.
Practice no more than 15 minutes a day. After your 15 minutes of practice or
warm-up, pick up your regular wood sticks and feel the POWER you
have gained.
Are POWER Wrist Builders® guaranteed?
POWER Wrist Builders® are 100% unconditionally guaranteed from defects
in workmanship. If after 30 days you
are not completely satisfied just return them with the sales receipt for a
complete refund.
How long will POWER Wrist
Builders®
last?
A
lifetime. The material is the highest quality aluminum and brass material
available. The aluminum POWER Wrist
Builders®
have an anodized finish, which means the finish will not wear, chip, nor
peal off.
Can I use my POWER Wrist Builders® on my drum kit?
Absolutely not. POWER
Wrist Builders® are practice sticks designed to be used on
practice pads and not drum heads.
Severe damage could result if you use them on your drumheads or cymbals.
Where are POWER Wrist Builders® made?
POWER Wrist Builders® are made in San Jose,
CA., under computer-controlled conditions to exacting specifications.
