Pair French Antique Faience Nevers Scenic Plates Travelers, circa 1870

 

Description: This is a Pair of Fine Antique Faience Plates made in the Nevers Region of France. This beautifully hand decorated pair are nicely modeled and decorated. On the underside of each plate is the stylized makers mark of JOB in black under glaze. Please note this is not Quimper, but Nevers faience, fine country French art pottery. Dimensions (in inches): Plate #1: 9.3 Diameter X 0.8 Tall. Plate #2: 8.1 Diameter X 0.7 Tall. Weight of the pair: 1 Lbs. 8.1 Oz. The date is circa 1870, late 19th Century.

Condition: Plate #1 has one shallow rim chip, Plate #2 has three shallow rim chips, all under ¼ inch. The plates are in good condition, with no cracks, or other defects other than minor edge chips as noted, firing flaws, and minor wear; no apparent restorations. Sold as is, as described.
