(Photos may load slowly) Focus Pull and Iris Controller for Panasonic AG DVX 100B and Panasonic HVX200 HD Video Cameras (DVX FI by VARIZOOM) Cinema Students and Professional Video/Film Camera operators are familiar with what a Focus and Iris Controller does, they use them all the time on every movie. FOCUS Control: Essentially, this controller allows the camera operator to pay their attention to on camera subject movement and shots, while a first assistant pulls focus so that the images always stay in focus. This controller is designed for the Panasonic higher end pro-summer Digital video cameras DVX-100B and the HD HVX200. (However, having a first assistant camera crew member is not required, this can just as easily be used conveniently by the solo camera operator.) A focus pull is important during movement shots that might change the focus on the subject. For instance: Subject A is walking and the Camera Operator is tracking the subject with the camera; Subject A is walking towards the camera from a long shot to a close-up and as a professional you know that a ZOOM in and out are not used in video and film production. Instead of a zoom with the camera, the camera operator will adjust the focus on the subject as they move closer to the camera. IRIS Control: The Iris control allows the aperture (the size of the lens opening) to be adjusted during filming in order to control the amount of light entering the cameras lens. This is important for any shot that requires the camera operator to move the camera from one lighting source to another while still rolling tape. For Example: Subject B is standing with his back against the sun on a bright sunny day so the camera just see a silhouette (Dark Outline of person against the bright sun in background) and then the Camera Operator adjusts the Iris while rolling film so the shoot goes from a silhouette where you can't see subject B's face - to a shot where you can see the subjects face; or another example is Subject B standing at the opening of a door outside and then walks inside where there is less lighting. The Iris pull allows the camera operator to adjust the exposure / aperture change between the two different light sources while the camera is moving. This Focus and Iris control by the recognized company Varizoom is an essential tool for any director of photography and camera operator using either of these two excellent cameras for their movie or production. This is a new, never used unit in the original box, with instructions, the DVX-FI, cloth protective cover and strap for situations that require a strap instead of the built-in tripod attachment. It was originally purchased new and was never used - kept in its box the entire time in a moisture proof container. There is another ebay seller currently selling this same item for $195.00. Online resellers offer this unit for sell at $179.00 plus shipping and handling - but the ones I checked do not have any in stock. I am not a commercial reseller, but rather a Cinema Video and Film Student trying to pay some bills, so this item is being sold all sales final. (Note: Do not plug this into a AG DVX 100 or DVX 100A camera. It is only for the DVX 100B and HVX-200 Cameras.
