Though it has been a mere thirty years since Michel Parmigiani commenced his career in watchmaking, he has quickly made a name for himself as a leading avant-garde Swiss watchmaking brand. He began restoring timepieces during his youth, thus fueling his already present interest in the art of horology. In 1996, Parmigiani Fleurier launched his first collection and in 12 short years has gained worldwide renown for his unique, beautiful and complex timepieces.
Parmigiani Fleurier Timepieces have an outstanding level of finish that is virtually unequalled. Even though it may never be visible, each component is chamfered, polished, and sometimes hand-engraved. The craftsmen watchmakers of the manufacture devote hundreds of hours to this work with the aim of enhancing the artistic quality of the products. Their concentration and sense of perfection enable them to create pieces that are unique both aesthetically and technically.
The featured watch is a Parmigiani Fleurier Ionica 8-Day Power Reserve. It is absolutely stunning. The Tonneau-Shaped 18K Rose Gold Case, alone, is exceptional (it measures 36 x 45mm). It is double stepped with exquisite detail and refinement and has a gorgeous Silvered Eggshell Guilloche Dial with Applied Gold-Toned Arabic Numerals, Gold-Toned Javelin Hour and Minute Hands at Center, a Power Reserve Meter at 12 o'clock, a Date Display Window at 3 o'clock, and a Silver-toned Small Seconds Subdial with a Blued Steel Hand at 6 o'clock. It has a Manual Wind Movement, Winding Crown, Sapphire Crystal and an Exhibition Caseback and comes on a Brown Alligator Parmigiani Fleurier Strap with a Tang Buckle. Water Resistant to 30 meters.
Personal Note--This watch is as elegant as it gets. The case is gorgeous. It is sophisticated and classic but also unique with the balance and beauty of the Dial, which has no numeral 12 or 6, and three perfectly balanced functions in the middle section. It is a manual winding fine quality complication that has an outstanding power reserve and a beautiful fan shaped indicator to remind you when it needs to be wound again. It is also a rare Limited Edition piece. Stunning!!
