Yamaha DX7 Rescue Kit

Vintage Synth Rescue Kit: Yamaha DX7 Series CD-ROM for Macintosh & PC
Includes: 20,000+ Patches / Manuals / Software
for DX7, DX7II, DX1, DX5, DX200, TX7, TX802, TX816, FM7, FM Heaven

The Yamah DX7 series synthesizers radically changed the world of music technology by supplanting analog synthesis with digital synthesis. The DX7 and its brethren were not easy to program, but they had the ability to produce an amazing array of sounds. As many folks have moved on to other, newer keyboards, rackmounts, and virtual synths, now is a great time to get great profesional vintage gear for a lot less money. So where are the cool sounds?

I have compiled over 2000 sysex files containing over 20,000 patches for the DX7 series synthesizers, including the following: DX7, DX7 II, TX7, TX816, TX802, DX1, DX5, DX200 and the virtual synth versions, Native Instruments' FM7 and FM Heaven. This disc includes several Sysex patch librarians for both Macintosh and Windows PCs to make it easier to organize sounds into useful banks. As an added bonus, I've transferred many of the patches into a huge Emagic SoundDiver library, which makes it quite easy for editing and organizing patches, as well as for compiling banks of your favorite sounds to load into your synthesizer.

This CD also features a large amount of documentation which will be helpful to anyone who owns a member of the DX7 family. These documents include: DX7 Operating Manual, Service Manual, Circuit Diagram, Voice Library chart, ROM datasheets, DX7II Product & Operating Manuals, eCard manual, and more. You'll also find some articles and beginners guides to FM programming in order to help provide some background and understanding regarding this very popular family of instruments. There are also some interesting history documents explaining how important the DX7 was to the world of music. If you use FM synthesis, this disc is worth it's weight in gold!

All files shipped to you on CD-ROM that is compatible with both Macintosh & Windows PCs. This would make a wonderful addition to anyone who owns an DX7-class synthesizer. Breathe more life into your vintage Yamaha by using this cd!

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions - taken from real emails I have received):
Q) Do I get a free synthesizer along with this cd?
A) NO! This is just a CD with program data for this model synthesizer. But since most people buy a new synth to get new sounds, you can pump more life into your vintage gear by purchasing the collection of sound data that is available on this cd.

Q) How do I get these sounds into my (other make) synthesizer?
A) It cannot be done! This program data will only work for the models specified above. Think of a synth as a computer -- it will only run the programs that are made for it. The DX7 series used 6 operator FM synthesis, which is *NOT* compatible with the 4-op methods used by the DX9, DX11, DX21, DX27, DX100, FB01 and TX81Z models.

Q) You just grabbed this stuff from the internet. I could do that!
A) Go ahead and try -- but be prepared to spend hundreds of hours tracking down this stuff. Many of the pdf's are files that I made myself at a cost of time and money to buy photocopied manuals and such. And I've tossed out a bunch of Sysex files that did not work. Plus, I've got a vast array of software tools that helped in the development of this cd. Save yourself the time and money, and just buy my disc already. It's under $20!

Q) Do you have demos that we can hear?
A) There are no demo audio files yet, but I am working on series of sample DVDs based on some of the sounds contained in this data. Check back here to hear and see the results.

Q) How do I get this to work on my computer?
A) I'm working on generating some documentation for all synth models and for Mac and PC, but I haven't completed this yet. When it's done registered purchasers will be able to download updates from my website.

Q) Your disc Rocks! I spent hundreds of dollars on commercial patches that aren't as good.
A) Thanks. I didn't get a high thumbs-up rating on Ebay by just waiting for success to happen. Sieze the day? Nope, Carpe discum! *seize the disc*

Q: Is this a original cd or a copy ?
A: Both. I designed the disc and created materials for it, then saved a disc image which gets burned to batches of cdr's before being sold on ebay and via my website.
