This is a Patek Philippe 5 minute repeater sold by Tiffany & Co. around 1905. This is an original piece as the matching serial numbers show. This is Patek Philippe at his finest. This watch belongs in a museum and I can honestly say it could easily be the pinnacle of most anyone’s collection. It’s a size 12 or 47.3 mm without the bow or crown and weights 83.8 grams or 2.955 oz. The size of the crown is 8 mm and it winds so very smoothly. I generally shy away from the word because not many pieces deserve it but this piece is in mint condition. The type of REGULATOR is the style most commonly used on very high grade precision movements. The American firms call it a MICROMETRIC Regulator (as you can adjust it very finely, by turning the side screw, and the Spring Arm keeps the regulator arm fixed in place). Another common term is a "WHIPLASH" REGULATOR. You can combine the terms, and call it a "High Precision Micrometric Whiplash Regulator".The 18k solid yellow gold, triple hinge, Tiffany & Co. case has no dents, scratches or personalization. The case is of very high quality as can be seen by the hinges which have five leaves instead of the usual three. The hinges are tight and the heavy covers work perfectly, opening to less than 90 degrees and snapping tightly closed leaving no gaps. The watch is very clean, I see no flaws and it does not appear to have had much use. The case is signed Tiffany, 18k and has the same serial number as is on the movement. The movement has the serial number and is signed Tiffany & Co. The dial is signed Tiffany & Co., has the PP Co (Patek Philippe Co.) mark on the back and has the serial number on the back rim. The beveled glass crystal and the hands look as new. The single sunk porcelain dial has no hairlines or chips. The movement, which is jeweled through to the hammers, is keeping great time and the repeating function chimes just as it should. The watch also comes with a certificate of authenticity from the archives of Patek Philippe. Thanks for looking.
