The Perrelet name is renowned for the invention the automatic winding mechanism by Abraham Louis Perrelet and the split-second chronograph by his son Louis-Frederic. Abraham Louis Perrelet was a talented inventor and watchmaker who completed his final masterpiece at the ripe age of 96. Louis-Frederic Perrelet was a watchmaker to three Kings of France and studied under Breguet. Their influence appears present in the company's current line, re-launched in 2005 with heavily decorated rotors, complex mechanisms and an impressive eye for detail.
The featured watch is a Perrelet Hommage 1834. It is an "auto loader" with a Dual Rotor (two separate rotors that operate the watch) made of 18K White Gold, measuring 40mm in diameter (13mm thick). It has a Gorgeous Blue Guilloche Dial with Painted Roman Numerals, Hour, Minute and Chronograph Sweep Seconds Hands at Center, a Date Display Window at 4 o'clock, a Rotor at 12 o'clock coupled to the Main Rotor, Small Seconds at 3 o'clock, a 12-Hour Register at 6 o'clock, and a 30-Minute Register at 9 o'clock. It is equipped with Anti-Reflective Sapphire Crystal, has an Exhibition Caseback that allows you to observe the Automatic Movement and comes on a Navy Blue Alligator Perrelet Strap with a Deployment Buckle. Water Resistant to 50 meters.
The Grand Maitre model is a chronograph with 3 counters plus the date, with an automatic movement linked to the double rotor system which requires more than 30 different components in order to connect the lower and the upper rotor.
Personal Note--Wow!!! Perrelet is a company that every collector should follow. The quality and design are really something to take note of and are truly impressive. This particular model is one of the pride and joys of the the company, and with the Blue Dial, it is absolutely stunning! Perrelet was the inventor of the automatic movement and to celebrate that fact, they took it a step further by creating an automatic watch which is powered by TWO rotors which work together, rather than just one. The amazing thing is that one of them can be seen on the front of the dial as well (and it actually works!) Spectacular!
