This wonderful sterling tea set was made by noted Philadelphia silversmiths Peter L. Krider & Co. This is a beautifully designed set made with remarkable craftmanship. It was created circa 1875 and all four main pieces are marked with the P.L. Krider Co. hallmark, along with the word "Sterling." (The 5th piece is the sugar bowl lid.)
The condition of this tea set is excellent. There are absolutely no dents, and I can find no signs of any damage or repairs. Other than a few very light surface scratches, I can find nothing wrong with any of these pieces. The tops all fit perfectly. The handles on both pots are firmly attached, and the ivory stoppers are in very nice condition. It's clear from its nicely preserved state that this tea set was only lightly used. In addition, this set retains every fine original detail and has NOT been over polished. There is a monogram with the cursive initials CMB.
The total weight of this sterling set is 77.2 ounces (70.4 troy ounces). The larger pot is about 10-1/2" inches in height and weighs 25.7 ounces. The shorter pot is about 9" inches in height and weighs 23.9 ounces. The covered sugar bowl is about 7-3/4" inches in height and weighs 17.5 ounces. Lastly, the creamer is about 7" inches in height and weighs 10.1 ounces.
