Peter and Wendy/ 1st Edition/1st Printing/1911/Barrie
A very nice copy of the first complete telling of the Peter Pan story, written by J.M. Barrie and illustrated by F.D. Bedford with 13 stunning black and white plates (including a tissue-guarded frontispiece). Based on an earlier stage play by the author, Peter and Wendy was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1911 and this first printing is a classic of fantasy children's literature. The green cloth covers are clean and the pictorial gilding bright and clear (a bit less so on the spine which is usually sunned, but not too badly at all here). The upper and lower corners on the front boards are slightly bumped and there's a bit of wear to the head and tail of the spine, but that's the very worst I can report. Both the hinges and spine are tight, the interior is clean and free of all marks. All in all, in VG+ condition and the nicest copy I've ever handled.
