 Phillip & Lloyd (The Blues Busters) – “Baby I’m Sorry” b/w “Just Don’t Want to Be Lonely” (Scepter 12413). The Jamaican vocal duo Philip James and Lloyd Campbell formed the Blues Busters in 1962. They began by performing in cabaret shows in Kingston and on the north coast to the tourists with their interpretations of then current R&B favourites. Their lucky break came when the duo was invited to accompany the soul legend Sam Cooke on his Jamaican tour. Naturally curious, they scrutinized his performance and were inspired by him. On returning to the cabaret circuit they emulated his soulful harmonies and were soon recording a number of cover versions of popular soul and reggae tunes. They enjoyed minor hits with the singles "Thinking" and "Privileged", although they relished greater commercial success with their hit compilations. The group also attempted to write and produce their own material with songs such as "Baby I'm Sorry" and "Keep On Doing It". Record is listed as northern soul in Manship’s Rare Soul 45 RPM Price Guide” and is in strong VG+ to M- condition. Postage & insurance will be paid by purchaser
